Frederick Douglass, the great 19th century Abolitionist once said, “No man can put a chain about the ankle of his fellow man without at last finding the other end fastened about his own neck.”
On Sunday, June 21, 2020, the Christopher Harris, Executive Director of Unhyphenated America .org shares a “UA Thought” about “Juneteenth”. He asks, “How Important Is Juneteenth For The Rest Of America?”
In a thread on his Facebook page, he stated that he has “NEVER celebrated Juneteenth, and neither has a large majority of Black folks.”
Someone replied, “Will you now? Why wouldn’t you celebrate the freedom of slaves? Just curious.”
Christopher answers their question with another question. “When did slaves become free?”

Thank you so very much for this elaborated education. This is deep and a great enlightenment toward a greater understanding a lot of things.
Thank you for being willing to invest 20 minutes of your life to listening and learning.
Thanks Christopher. I understand everything more clearly, but I will never know what you know! I am not good with dates ! Your classmate from Wiesbaden sent me the information for my history lesson.
I am really glad to hear that Anita. I know a lot of people get bored with history, but I’m fascinated by it.
Great history lesson Chris. Very enlightening.
Great video for the edification of those who do not know, nor study our American history!
Thank you John.
That was a great 20 minute lecture. Your strength is keeping focus on inalienable rights and the foundation that the founders of the US created.
Now for the error. You make the presumption that the civil war was about slavery. Never did you mention the support of slavery that the north provided. From importing most slaves, financing them and never once boycotting slave grown products. You completely ignored the fact that the south left the union just as the colonies left England. For restricting the power of the federal government. Slavery was not wrong. Slavery became wrong. If you really think slavery was wrong than perhaps you can explain why it existed longer than recorded human history for over 1800 years of Christianity and thousands before that. Capitalism is what made slavery obsolete as slaves do not spend in the economy.
