On Friday, Nov 8, 2019, fervent supporter of all things Leftist, Tariq Nasheed, caused a great disturbance in The Force by asking one simple question via his twitter account.
Back on August 19, 2016, after he had already secured the GOP Nomination, candidate Donald J. Trump was on the campaign trail in Michigan and he said:
“No group in America has been more harmed by Hillary Clinton’s policies than African-Americans. No group…no group!! If Hillary Clinton’s goal was to inflict pain on the African-American Community, she could not have done a better job. It’s a disgrace.Tonight, I’m asking for the vote of every…single…African-American…citizen in this country, who wants to see a better future. Look how much African-American communities have suffered under Democratic control. To those I say the following, “What do you have to lose…by trying something new…like Trump? What do you have to lose? I say it again…what do you have to lose? Look…what do you have to lose? You’re living in poverty…your schools are no good…you have no jobs…58 percent of your youth is unemployed…what the hell do you have to lose?”
Let’s think about this for a second. Three years ago, you had the most widely known, unknown candidate in the history of the country asking “What do you have to lose?” We knew what he could do as a businessman…but we had no real idea as to what he would do as an elected official. Well, fast forward 1,025 days (since his inauguration), and we have unassailable facts and empirical data to prove what he can do, which should give us every confidence to believe in what he will do going forward.
Folks, in my opinion, this seemingly simple question by someone like Tariq Nasheed has got to be somewhere between a 4-5 on the political Richter Scale. It has to scare the heck out of the DNC.
A few decades ago, another outspoken person, thought to be a true-believer in Leftism and #CulturalMarxism made a similar statement, questioning why Black folks would vote Democrat. He said,
“You put them first, and they put you last. ‘Cause you’re a chump. A political chump! … Any time you throw your weight behind a political party [Democrats] that controls two-thirds of the government, and that party can’t keep the promise that it made to you during election time, and you are dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party — you’re not only a chump but you’re a traitor to your race.”
The person who said that was Malcolm X, and he gave his famous “The Ballot or the Bullet” speech on April 12, 1964, in Detroit, MI.
I’m not trying to be hyperbolic here folks, but I think there is a lot more going on if you look deeper. I’m not going to put words in the mouth of Tariq Nasheed…but it seems to me that when Mr. Nasheed asks, “So why should we honestly support the Democrats?” he is essentially echoing the statements of President Trump who said, “What do you have to lose?”. But on a deeper level, what he may unknowingly ultimately be saying is that “African-Americans” will be “political chumps” if they vote for Democrats in 2020, because ever since January 20, 2009, they have put Democrats first…and Democrats have put them last. Hey, maybe it really is time to leave the Dark Side of the Force.
