New York City may lay claim to the title of most populous city in the United States, but the most populous county in America is Los Angeles County. The county has a population of over 10 million people, with it’s native inhabitants being known as “Angelenos”, has its county seat in the city of Los Angeles, which is Spanish for “The Angels“. That name is an abbreviation of the original name, “El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula“, which translates into English as, “town of our lady the Queen of Angels of the little Portion“. For anyone who’s been watching the state of California as it circles the toilet bowl, it should come as no surprise to learn that the county of Los Angeles has rejected the protection of “The Angels“.
A Bill Clinton appointed U.S. District Court Judge, Christina A. Snyder, ruled on Thursday, April 7, that it is unconstitutional for the county of “The Angels” to restore a tiny Christian cross to the county seal because it places the county’s “power, prestige and purse” behind one religion. The cross was restored (by a 3-2 vote) in 2014 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, after it was initially removed in 2004 in order to avoid a lawsuit. The seal with the cross was added in 1957.
The mood in the country was much different at that time. In the 1950’s, American’s believed in God, and recognized the threat of Communism and Socialism. In fact, it was back in 1954 that President Dwight D. Eisenhower urged the U.S. Congress to add “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance. As we know it today, it says, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
It should also come as no surprise that the people behind this move to get that tiny cross removed from the county seal are none other than the infamous American Communist Lies Union. Oops, I mean, the American Civil Liberties Union.
I often find myself laughing at the selective outrage of the Left. It’s amazing that they are always looking for something to take offense to. For example, take a look at the seal of the City of “The Angels”.
Those beads around the seal represent a Rosary. More specifically, they are the Rosary to recognize and honor the significant part the Franciscan fathers (monks) played in civilizing and settling much of California. It should come as no surprise that several Leftist have sought to remove the Rosary, because it offends precious snowflakes…and we can’t have that.
Back in 2014, former Louisiana Governor, and Republican Presidential candidate, Bobby Jindhal, gave the keynote address at the commencement ceremony for Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. He told the graduates and their family and friends, “The United States of America did not create religious liberty. Religious liberty created the United States of America.” He also let it be known that “The American people, whether we know it or not, are mired in a silent war,” over religious liberty. But the reality is, it’s not a war over “religious liberty”, it’s a war over Christian Liberty. The Left doesn’t care if you practice any other religion…as long as it’s not Christianity.
Most people are totally clueless about what “religious liberty” actually means. Most people have been indoctrinated, by the Public School System, to believe that the U.S. Constitution says there is supposed to be a “separation of Church and State”. But those words appear no where in the Constitution of the United States of America. In fact, those words appear no where in the Constitutions of any of the 50 States.
The First Amendment clearly says:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
If you do some research, you will see that the whole “Separation of Church and State” thing actually came from a private letter, dated January 1, 1802, between then President, Thomas Jefferson, and a committee of the Danbury Baptist Church association of Connecticut.
The States” themselves are actually not prohibited from speaking of religion. Many of them had religious clauses in their State Constitutions. At least 43 of the 50 States specifically reference and show reverence to the same God, and Creator of the Universe, that the Founding Fathers referenced in the Declaration of Independence when they said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”
The Constitution of the United States of America was created as a contract between three entities. First, there is “We, The People”. Then there is, “The States”, which were created by “We, The People”. Finally, there is “The Federal Government of the United States of America”, or simply “The Government”, which was created by “The States”. The two things discussed in the Constitution are “Rights”, and “Powers”.
You have to understand that only individuals have “Rights”. So “We, The People”, have “Unalienable Rights”, which came from The Creator, and no lesser authority has the right to infringe upon those “Rights”. Then “We, The People”, granted “The States” the “Power” to protect our “Unalienable Rights”. And we granted “The States” the “Power” to create “The Government” to protect the sovereignty of “The States”, and to further protect “The Rights” of “We, The People”.
Men like Benjamin Franklin, who we have been told to believe was agnostic, or even an atheist, famously said, “The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?” And if that is not enough, in an August 19, 1784 letter to his friend, former member of Parliament, William Strahan, Franklin said, “My dear friend, do not imagine that I am vain enough to ascribe our success [Revolution] to any superiority…If it had not been for the justice of our cause, and the consequent interposition of Providence, in which we had faith, we must have been ruined. If I had ever before been an atheist, I should now have been convinced of the being and government of a Deity!”
The Bill Clinton appointed District Court Judge may feel that the “City of Angels” no longer needs the protection of “The Angels”, but the Founding Fathers were much wiser than her. They trusted Divine Providence, and relied on the protection of “The Angels”. The County Board of Supervisors chose to trust in that protection also, and no Federal Judge has the right to infringe upon that trust.
