It goes without saying that the “creative industries” consisting of Film-making, Music, and Video Gaming have provided billions of dollars to the US economy, but their impact extends beyond simply providing jobs. They drive “The Culture”. These industries are affected by governmental policies, as well as the policies of the private corporations in those respective industries. But because of their powerful influence over The Culture, the question we Conservatives need to ask ourselves is, how do we as Conservatives start to regain control over these industries and begin to use them to influence The Culture in a more positive manner by having more of us being Creative Entrepreneurs.
Ultimately, the role of Creative Entrepreneur has become more important in The Culture War. With that in mind, Creative Entrepreneurs should have more resources available to them when forming their companies. President Ronald Reagan once said, “Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.” The creative industries have provided 700 billion dollars to the US economy. Despite this, there are only a handful of start-up accelerators that are geared towards helping these entrepreneurs start their respective companies.
Personally, I have a game studio start-up and I have applied to accelerators in the Middle East and have gotten positive feedback on the project I am developing. The accelerator I have applied to is Oasis 500 located in Amman, Jordan. If an accelerator like Oasis can provide entrepreneurs with the right opportunities to succeed then why can’t accelerators in America do it?
Some of the God-fearing Conservative Americans may say, “Why should we care about Creative Entrepreneurs?”
I will give you guys an example of the time when Jesus sent the Seventy out into the world to spread the Gospel. In Luke 10:1-3, it says “1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also,[a] and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.”
This year, the Millennials, (those born between 1984 – 2004), a generation to which I belong, surpassed Gen-X (those born between 1965 – 1984) as the largest percentage of the workforce, at 53.5 Million, compared to 52.7 Million. This is important because my generation is the first to grow up almost entirely within the Information Age. Playing video games, listening to music, or watching movies on a personal hand-held device is such a cultural norm for us that we don’t even think twice about. Our entire lives have been influenced by Creative Entrepreneurs, and we have used Social Media throughout our entire adult lives.
Creative Entrepreneurs use their ‘talents’ to create monetary returns on their investment. But, they also have massive influence over The Culture. It is only right for Conservatives and Americans Christians to support not only Creative Entrepreneurs but entrepreneurs altogether. All too often, Conservative minds ignore Creative Entrepreneurs as they are sent out into the world like lambs unto wolves, to try to reap a potentially great harvest, but there are too few workers. As a result, most of the crop ends up dying on the vine, and/or being consumed by The Left.
If we want to boost our economy, and take back our culture, we Conservatives must invest monetarily, as well as emotionally, in the talents of existing Creative Entrepreneurs who share our values. But most importantly, we must cultivate the next generation of Creative Entrepreneurs who will share and promote our values.
