If you blamed The AAA like you blame The NRA…
Driving while intoxicated is a major problem in the United States. According to the website, Romans322.com, at the time of this article, on February 23, 2018, more than 4,974 people have died so far in 2018 as a result of driving while intoxicated. Sadly, there have also been over 881 deaths from texting while driving. It’s interesting to me that no one has put forth the idea of blaming auto manufacturers, alcohol producers, or even smartphone manufacturers for the actions of drunk drivers, and distracted drivers. Everyone understands that it’s not the car, or the alcohol, or even the smartphone that caused the death of others…it was the person driving the vehicle.
With all of that in mind, how foolish do you have to be to blame the 58 million members of the American Automobile Association for the actions of a relative handful of people who harm others while behind the wheel of a car. There are over 222 million licensed drivers in America, who drive well over 3 Trillion miles a year.
Meanwhile, the NRA only has about 5 million members, and there are over 265 million privately owned firearms in America. Yet, with 265 million privately owned firearms, there are “only” 11,000 firearm homicides per year. Extensive research by every Left-wing media source (which means almost all of them), and the Democratic National Committee has found that the number of homicides per year by NRA members is pretty much…ZERO!!
Everyone wants to act as if the NRA is this all-powerful lobbying organization, but different news agencies, like the Dailymail UK have found that the NRA spends less than $4 million annually lobbying. Of all the registered lobbyist and contributors to the 2016 election cycle, the NRA’s roughly $1.1 million in political contributions means it ranked #488 out of 18,819, and it’s $3.1 million in lobbying means it ranked #154 out of 3,787. Even it’s “outside spending” was only #9 out of 170. The NRA doesn’t even crack the Top-10 of Top Lobbying Organizations or Top Contributors, and it certainly doesn’t even come close to being one of the Top All-Time Donors.
Despite not having anything to do with harming others, companies like the First National Bank of Omaha, and Enterprise Rental Car are choosing to end their relationship with the NRA.
Companies may be starting to rethink their ties to the National Rifle Association in the wake of last week’s massacre at a Florida high school, with a major bank and car-rental giant announcing Thursday they were dropping partnership programs with the NRA.
First National Bank of Omaha, the nation’s largest privately owned bank, said Thursday it will not renew its contract with the NRA for a branded Visa card.
“Customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA,” a bank spokesman said in a statement. “As a result, First National Bank of Omaha will not renew its contract with the National Rifle Association to issue the NRA Visa Card,”
The bank had a relationship with the NRA for more than a decade, and the card touted a $40 cash-back bonus, enough to reimburse a one-year NRA membership.
Later Thursday, privately held Enterprise Holdings Inc. — the parent company of the Enterprise, Alamo and National car rental brands — said it will end its partnership with the NRA, which gave NRA members discounts. In tweets, Enterprise Holdings said that program will end next month.
So while the NRA is getting pummeled and castigated for crimes not committed by its members, Planned Parenthood, which is definitely and directly responsible for millions of murdered babies in the womb, spends over $9 million annually lobbying and helping to get Democrats elected. Planned Parenthood is directly responsible for no less than 320,000 murdered human beings just in 2016 alone.
I almost feel bad for comparing the American Automobile Association to Planned Parenthood. However, it’s even more tragic that the NRA is getting blamed for the actions of murderers when folks are ignoring the heinous crimes of Planned Parenthood, who actually employed and protected real mass murderers. If the NRA had and protected members who acted like abortion “doctors” Timothy Liveright (over 50,000 abortions), George Tiller (over 80,000 abortions), and Kermit Gosnell, they would definitely deserve the castigation and damnation they are receiving in the media…but they don’t, and they don’t.
