How much is an Apple worth?

Christopher Harris

The great economist, “THAT DUDE, THE TEACHER”, Milton Friedman once said, “So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear. That there is no alternative way, so far discovered, of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system.” Well, it was that very same free enterprise system that empowered Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to start “The Apple Computer Company” in 1976, in the garage of Jobs’ parents home in Los Altos, CA. It is that very same free enterprise system that has allowed “The Apple Computer Company” (supposedly named in remembrance of a happy summer Jobs had spent picking apples) to now be worth over $700 Billion!!

Dr Evil - Apple Computers - 700 Billion - UA edit

I always find it interesting when people (usually those on The Left) are lamenting and castigating the system of Capitalism for it’s “inherent greed”. The only odd thing is…they never seem to criticize those “greedy Capitalist” that are in good standing with them. Apple is one such company. Most of the hardcore Leftist/Regressive/Socialist minded people that I know are devoted fans of Apple’s products. Well, we here at Unhyphenated America are unashamedly Capitalist, and believers in the Free Market, so none of us have a problem in the world with Apple being worth $700 BILLION (in market value). In fact, we celebrate their success, because it proves once again that Capitalism and the Free Market actually works…when you let it work!! And we, the people benefit the most from allowing it to work.

Check out this quick Economics 101 lesson on Capitalism vs. Socialism, from one the greatest U.S. Presidents ever, Ronald W. Reagan.

One last thing. If you want to know what kind of cool things you can do when your company is worth over $700 Billion, and has more cash in the bank ($160 Billion) than the U.S. Government, check this out. Here is:

When you’ve provided a benefit to your fellow man (to the tune of $700 Billion), you can do some pretty cool things…including building a headquarters that looks like a flying saucer, with 2.8 Million square feet (the Pentagon in DC/VA is 6.5 Million square feet) of office space, on a 176 acre lot. And you can write a check for $5 Billion to complete the project…and not even miss it. Ain’t Capitalism grand?!?!
