Last wish, a “SWISH”.

Leslie Brown

Yesterday, a dying wish was fulfilled for Lauren Hill. She made a lay-up shot in her very first college basketball game. In fact the game was moved up on account of her failing health.

Sunday afternoon, the Mount St. Joseph freshman achieved what she set out to do; play in one college basketball game. With a sold-out crowd of 10,000 plus fans, she made a lay-up for her team, in Xavier University’s Cintas Center.

Fittingly, Hill also made the final basket as Mount St. Joseph went on to beat Hiram College 66-55. She ended with four points in her college debut.(1)

“Let’s not call this my last game. Let’s call this my first collegiate game,” Hill said during a TV interview after coming out of the game.

“I’ve never felt this good in my life.”

Lauren was diagnosed with brain cancer last November, and her prognosis was made more dire this September. Lauren has lived “large” until the end, and “fought the good fight”. She has also sought to raise awareness of pediatric cancer. What a great example for all Americans as we fight to save our country.
