Ferguson, MO: Will change bring more of the same?

Christopher Harris

One of my heroes is Booker T. Washington. Most people today are only vaguely aware of his existence, because there has been a concerted effort to remove he and the principles he promoted from history…by ignoring him. He was routinely (and harshly) criticized by Black Marxists, like W.E.B. DuBois, for not pushing harder (or more publicly) for greater POLITICAL RIGHTS for Blacks at that time. Mr. Washington made it clear how he felt about that subject when he said, “It is important and right that all privileges of the law be ours, but it is vastly more important that we be prepared for the exercise of those privileges.”  So when I hear about the folks of Ferguson, MO, crying out for POLITICAL CHANGE, I immediately find myself thinking, “Are you ready to be THE CHANGE you want to see?”

Ferguson Missouri - Protest in Meeting - Hands Up

Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis, has a population of 21,000. The town is about 70 percent Black. The mayor and five of the six City Council members are White. The mayor is 34 year old registered Republican, James Knowles III. The 53 person police department is 94 percent White, with only 3 Black police officers. Now it is perfectly understandable to think, “That is terrible!! How can that happen? There must be some racism involved!!”

Well, Mayor Knowles was elected (at the age of 31) in the nonpartisan election on April 5, 2011, winning 49 percent of the vote. He defeated two challengers, Pearce Neikirk, a Realtor, and former Ferguson mayor Steve Wegert. But here is the thing…voter turnout for that mayoral election was just 12 percent of the eligible voters. Mayor Knowles publicly expressed disappointment with the low voter turnout at a April 2014 city council meeting.

In a town hall meeting on Tuesday, 09/09/14, St. Louis activist, John Chasnoff, said to city officials, “You’ve lost your authority to govern this community. You’re going to have to step aside peacefully if this community is going to heal.” Several speakers and “Community Organizers” spoke of plans to block Interstate 70 in Ferguson on Wednesday and bring rush-hour traffic to a standstill. in an act of civil disobedience.

Now let me use my crystal ball (actually it’s a history book) and tell you what I believe is most likely going to happen. The voter participation rate in Ferguson, MO, is going to EXPLODE…which means, instead of 12 percent, it will be 24 percent. They will elect a bunch of Black Marxist Democrats to “lead them to the Promise Land”. And in 2-5 years…Ferguson will look exactly like every other place that is ran by Black Marxist Democrats. Which incidentally…is exactly how it looks right now.

You see…it’s not the race of the elected officials that matters…it’s the CHARACTER and the CULTURE of the residents that matters. Which is why areas that are Congressional Black Caucus districts continue to suck, because the CHARACTER and CULTURE of the folks in those areas is exemplified by THE LEADERSHIP THEY CHOOSE.

By the way, the State and Federal elected officers who represent the area of Ferguson, are all Black Marxist Democrats.
Missouri State Representatives: Representative, Courtney Allen Curtis (District 73), and Representative, Sharon Pace (District 74)

Missouri State Senator: Senator, Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D-14th – University City)

U.S. Representative: Representative William Lacy Clay (D – MO – 1st)

So if you were to peer into the “crystal ball” of history…do you think that the residents of Ferguson are ready to be the “Change” they are demanding?
