A HUG makes for a THUG?

Leslie Brown

From the “Political Correctness Run Amok Files”…39 year grocery store employee fired for giving a hug to a customer. It doesn’t stop there though, he got an “assault and battery” charge out of it too.

Wow. I have said before that there are some people who have taken “getting offended” to the level of Olympic sport. What kind of meanypants would complain about a friendly hug?

Fred Civis has worked at Plumb’s grocery store in Whitehall, Michigan for the majority of his life. This has to be a devastating blow. Does the punishment fit the crime? I don’t think so.

Civis says it was just a hug, a friendly way he has greeted customers throughout his 39 years at Plumb’s Valu-Rite Foods.

While supporters protested Civis’ termination outside Plumb’s, an employee came outside and gave Civis a hug and told him she misses him.

“That’s why I wanted to do this job, keep this job, to make a difference, and this is proving that I have made a difference,” Civis said.

I could see that if Fred was some lecherous guy who was being inappropriate, but I don’t believe that that is the case; nor does anyone else. Plumb’s refuses to back down. A Facebook page has been set up in Fred’s behalf.

Plumb’s refuses to back down.  That’s just plum crazy; I guess a “chip” got knocked off of someone’s shoulder during the hug.
