Wheel Heroes

Leslie Brown

Marine Michael Sulsona gave his legs for his country in 1971 in the fields of Vietnam. The Veteran’s Administration isn’t exactly known for taking good care of those who served, risking both life and limb.

I sorta’ think that before we decided to put the federal government over our healthcare system, maybe we shoulda’ looked at how they’ve done with the fraction of Americans they have been “caring” for thus far. I’m just sayin’.

Michael has been waiting on a new wheelchair from the V.A. for the past two years. On the evening of July 7th, Michael was at the Lowe’s in Mariner’s Bay, New York when his wheelchair fell apart. One is much more likely to get sc&wed by the V.A. than get a screw replaced. I don’t know about you, but that probably would have sent me into a tailspin.

Three Lowe’s employees immediately stepped in to help Mr. Sulsona. They helped him to another chair while in about 45 minutes they made the wheelchair “just like new”. The veteran said the trio renewed his faith that, “there are some who still believe in stepping up to the plate. They didn’t ask any questions, didn’t feel the need to fill out any forms or make phone calls. Someone needed help and they felt privileged to be given the opportunity.”

Speaking of the privilege and opportunity to serve, a desperate young lady contacted me this morning who is in dire straights. I promised her I would share her story. This U.A. website had sat “dormant” since 2013 when I took it on in April, (at 57 hits per month). We need to get 5K hits a day to make any money from advertisers. We are currently up to 14K hits a month, so I’m working for free at the moment, and can’t help. If you can help this young lady in any way please do, using the link below her story.
