This story would be so amazing to save for Father’s day, but I just can’t wait that long!  I know, I know, poor impulse control.  When you watch the video, you’ll see what I mean.

This is a story of a boy who grew up handicapped due to oxygen deprivation at birth with a mind that stayed perfectly intact. As he grew, his father became “his” legs by pushing him in a specialized wheelchair.

The son, Rick, asked his father to run for him in a 5 mile race in support of a friend.  After the race Rick told his father, “Dad when I’m running it feels like I’m not handicapped.” That statement “flipped a switch” within the mind of the father, and he began to run all of the races he began to  participate in with son in tow, eventually tackling the monumental event of a triathlon.

The two have completed over 1,000 races together including marathons, duathlons and six Iron Man competitions. This is a story of true and unconditional love, that of a father.
