From 31 flavors of ice cream, to 31 flavors of…gender?

Baskin-Robbins 31 flavors

I remember growing up in Germany in a military community in the 1980’s, and it was a huge thing when certain franchises that were common in America, came overseas. For example, I remember when they opened the first Baskin-Robbins in Frankfurt. It was a huge deal. The line was forever long from the time it opened, until they ran out of ice cream about half-way through the day. It was like that virtually every day, for months, particularly in the summer-time, because it was the only American style ice cream store in all of Germany.

You know, the Baskin-Robbins website tells us this about the founders, Burton “Burt” Baskin and Irvine “Irv” Robbins.

Nearly three-quarters of a century ago, two brothers-in-law shared a dream to create an innovative ice cream store that would be a neighborhood gathering place for families. Burton “Burt” Baskin and Irvine “Irv” Robbins had a mutual love of old-fashioned ice cream and the desire to provide customers a variety of flavors made with ingredients of the highest quality in a fun, inviting atmosphere.

Baskin-Robbins - Founders

The whole “31 Flavors” thing immediately came to my mind when I saw something come across my news feed from Fox News. The city of New York, led by their Communist-in-Chief, Mayor Bill de Blasio, has decided to forgo the normal chocolate or vanilla flavors of MAN or WOMAN for gender, and offer its citizens the opportunity to choose to identify from “31 Flavors” of…gender!!

Yep, you read that correctly, “31 Flavors” of GENDER. The city’s Commission on Human Rights has not only decided to acknowledge such “genders” as “gender gifted”, and “two spirit”, but they are also threatening businesses with fines in excess of $100,000 for failure to respect and accommodate individuals who feel their “gender” can be anything other than chocolate or vanilla.

Gay Pride - 31 flavors

You know, Baskin-Robbins became famous because their “31 Flavors” slogan promoted the idea that a customer could have a different flavor of ice cream every day of any month. Well, I guess New York City wants to become infamous for promoting the idea that a human being could have a different “flavor” of “gender” every day of any month.
