WTH is a “partial BIRTH”?!
I’ve got one of those minds that won’t SHUT UP! I have trouble turning it off and it looooves to be learning something or creating something. Well, last night a phrase popped into my head…
PUPPY IN A BLENDER!!! Now hear me out. The phrase is absolutely horrifying because we have never, ever, ever, used those words in the same sentence, nor want to see, or hear, them again. But I just shocked the h*ll out of you, did I not?
I just proved the fact to you, in a harmless little “thought experiment” in which YOU were the unwitting guinea pigs, that the words, “abortion”, “pregnancy termination” and “partial birth abortion” (think COLLAPSE the cranium) mean much less to us in a visceral sense than the puppy phrase.
We have become DESENSITIZED to the horror that is abortion after forty flippin’ years of essentially doing the same thing with babies.
In 2002, Obama voted against a Born Alive Infants Protection Act in Illinois, saying the law would undermine Roe vs Wade by banning abortions of a “a previable fetus,” as the Washington Post noted (the WaPo fact-checker pulled together some relevant comments made by Obama on the topic). The bill said that “A live child born as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the law.”(1)
