Toddlers tend to put EVERYTHING in their mouths; bugs, dirt, wrappers, no matter. Unfortunately, baby Eli Cooper shoved a plastic wrapper in this mouth, that had no intention of coming back out of his throat.
His panicked young mother Stephanie Cooper went racing out the door of her South Carolina home in an attempt to find anyone who could help her baby. 24 year veteran of the United States Post Office, Chris Brown, just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and had had training years ago through in the Heimlich maneuver.
Chris’s quick action with the baby dislodged the wrapper from the baby’s throat and resulted in a flood of relief washing over his young mother. There are no accidents, and I believe God provided this ordinary hero, to spare a young family the loss of their only son.
What a beautiful picture of ordinary people working together for a common goal; love for life. Baby Eli will celebrate his first birthday thanks to Americans in action-Unhyphenated American, because character is colorless and hyphens divide.
