Congress and Diapers…

Congress and diapers both need to be changed, and both for the same reason.

Congress is painfully out of touch. Part of the reason for this is that our House of Representatives is proportionally far smaller than it was originally intended. The other reason is that “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” ~Lord Acton

Congress was also not meant to be a lifetime endeavor like a frickin’ Supreme Court Judge. Some Congressmen (and women) fall prey to the trappings and the perks that are inherent in the position and it gets sooooo easy to promise goodies called “Pork (sorry Muslims) Barrel Projects” to their constituents back home in their district which cost us TAX dollars.

Yeah, there are a few good eggs in the bunch, but have you heard of any up-and-coming young LIBERALS lately?   I’m thinking “no”.   This younger bunch has seen that the “War on Poverty” is a big FAIL, as well as “economic stimuluses”, Keynesian economics, “Cash for Clunkers”, the U.S.P.S., T.S.A., I.R.S., F.B.I., C.I.A., H.U.D., Department of “Education”, and the “now-packin’-heat” I.R.S., E.P.A etc.

The great hilarity is that a “slam” by a liberal is that conservatives are “Right Wing Nazis”! Bah ha ha! Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t conservatives for LIMITED GOVERNMENT! We are NOT for cradle-to-grave government all up in our business! I personally think same-sex marriage is NONE of frickin’ business of the Federal government. We have 50 little laboratories called STATES for duties NOT SPECIFICALLY ASSIGNED TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in that Constitution thingie.

Amendment X of the Constitution: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

  1. I agree with some of what you have to say, specifically about Congress. It’s effectively become an aristocracy.

    I can’t recall the last time I’ve heard the term “Right Wing Nazi” from a liberal. Now, “Right Wing Nut Job”, yes. I try to avoid painting in such broad strokes myself, and don’t think name-calling is constructive.

    Regarding SSM, I beg to differ. The 14th Amendment (of the Constitution that is) says in part: “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

    Also, since the federal government decided to get into the business of treating married and unmarried folks differently, they have an interest in ensuring that states aren’t discriminatorily restricting access to marriage. If the feds didn’t recognize marriages at all, for anyone, that might change the discussion.
