Auditory “Flash-bulb Memory”

They’re called “flash-bulb memories”. Those are the ones where you remember exactly where you were, and what you were doing when a particular powerful event takes place. For example on 9/11, or when the Challenger exploded.

I have an auditory memory like that. The radio station I listened to for years in Dallas played “alternative music”; U2, R.E.M., Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure etc.  For some reason, I had tuned my radio station to a classical music station; WRR.   This station was  broadcasted from downtown Dallas at the time.

I remember the very street, and where I was on the street, when a song came on I had heard before, but not this version or with this singer.  It was so incredibly beautiful it made me weep; right there in my car.

This is a hauntingly beautiful song by American opera singer, Jessye Norman who is considered a “dramatic soprano”.   I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do. Blessings fellow patriots of all colors.

P.S. As you listen to the song, think of the immense “handicap” that had to become overcome by Jessye Norman to make GERMAN beautiful he he!   P.P.S.  Maybe I can “hit-up”  the red-headed piano player lady to join my National Association of Gingers!
