That Pesky Law of Averages
If Maria has six children and Josefina has 10, what is the AVERAGE number of children the women have? Anyone? Anyone?
Well, since most everybody is a “public-schooler” like myself, what you do is add the two numbers together, then you divide by the “number of numbers. So in this example, 6 + 10 = 16. 16 divided by two, since there are TWO women (or mujeres). Are you still with me?
The answer would be eight. I was nice and gave y’all EVEN numbers so we didn’t end up with any PARTIAL children; although the libs don’t seem to mind those at all.
Now, the United States is considered a Highly Industrialized Nation, or one could call it a FIRST World nation; at least for the time being. Let’s look at some other industrialized nations: France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada and Russia.
Now let’s take a “look-see” at South America….shall we? The 2014 Gross Domestic Product growth forecast for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico and Venezuela are all expected to go DOWN. Hey, the U.S.’s is slated to go down too, but we KNOW why in the H&LL that is!!! South America is largely considered “Third World”.
So if the U.S. is considered a First World Nation and South America is largely considered a THIRD WORLD Nation, whaddya’ think is gonna happen? I will be a good teacher and allow some “latency” for y’all to answer the question, which should prompt some “higher-level-thinking-skills”. You guys can “talk amongst yourselves” at this point and engage in some “cooperative learning”. They like that a lot in education.
Lest you think I am a xenophobic-racist-patriarchal-meanypants….I’m not! I don’t care if you are pink with purple polka dots. I have a beautiful hispanic child, so don’t even go there. I just love my country! I believe that America is exceptional and needs to stay that way. Because, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t a land without borders cease to be a nation at all?
I got y’all a tissue.
