Father to Many

Leslie Brown

Some of you may remember Bill Cosby from his role as Mr. Huxtable on the Cosby Show; I’m CERTAIN you remember his sweaters!

If you’re my age…..you also remember him from the cartoon he created in the, well um, let’s just say a “while back” called “Fat Albert and the Gang”.  He also wrote a hilarious book called Fatherhood and has some wonderful quotes on the subject.

I am sorry to say that over the years, I gave my father several Old Spice soap-on-a-ropes, not to mention a lopsided coffee cup made in pottery class.

I hope that you are so blessed to have a father to call and wish a Happy Father’s Day today; thank him for all he has done for you, and love on him while you can.  Here are some awesome quotes from Cosby:

Human beings are the only creatures on earth that allow their children to come back home.*

Even though your kids will consistently do the exact opposite of what you’re telling them to do, you have to keep loving them just as much.
Bill Cosby

If the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation has a fifty percent chance of being right.

‘The Cosby Show’ made an impact on comedy, television and culture. We rejected lowering the bar.

Thank you Bill Cosby for providing a positive role model for fathers on television when then, and even more so now, fathers are portrayed like idiots.

Good article, but Father’s Day is next Sunday. You’re a week early.

Shelly, To tell you what a GREAT father I have, when I texted him yesterday morning to tell him Happy Father’s Day, he THANKED me lol! Yep, I realized I was “off” a week yesterday as I drove out of town with no iphone (I just have a dumb phone). OR…maybe I was ummmm, just giving people PLENTY of notice before next SUNDAY…..that’s it! LB
