Neighbors Providing Rest for the Weary
Neighbors in a Houston neighborhood were used to seeing fellow neighbor Charlie George “out and about” on his regular routine of walking his dogs; sometimes even with cat “Blue” trailing behind!
These same neighbors also noticed that Charlie’s walks were becoming more and more difficult for him, as his leukemia began to make the daily outings a challenge.
Not content to sit by and watch Charlie continue to struggle, one neighbor came up with the idea of placing a chair in her yard for Charlie to rest in, along the way. She didn’t stop there; she then emailed other neighbors to share her idea. Now a homey hodge-podge of chairs labeled “Chairs for Charlie” line his route.
Now THAT’s community and being a good neighbor.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
