Trip to the Pound Yields Treasure

Veterinarian Makes Home Visits To Euthanize Dying Pets
Leslie Brown

The James family of New Jersey is reunited with their pooch eighteen months after hurricane Sandy.

Maybe I’m extra keen on dog stories right now since our pooch was bitten by a rattlesnake last month and blessedly survived, but I love this story.

The James family lost their dog “Reckless” in hurricane Sandy and thought he was gone for good. “Reckless” lost his collar on the fence during the chaos leaving him with no identification.  A trip to the pound to find a dog for their daughter Ally’s tenth birthday gave the family the best present ever.  In the very first kennel they approached at the S.P.C.A. was their dog.

Ally said,

That hole in my heart is finally filled in.

We here at Unhyphenated America rejoice with the James family and all who are kind to other’s and God’s creatures and are thankful for the ongoing efforts of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
