Sheriff David Clarke rocks the house at the 2014 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum
The National Rifle Association held it’s annual NRA-ILA Leadership Forum, April 25-27, at the Indiana Convention Center, in Indianapolis, IN. The Leadership Forum is one of NRA’s premier events of the year. Many of our nation’s top Second Amendment leaders in government, the media, and the entertainment industry, as they strategize and build a battle plan for defending the most important freedom of them all…THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS!! This year, one of the speakers was Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr., AND HE ROCKED THE HOUSE.
A lifelong resident of the City of Milwaukee, Clarke was appointed Sheriff in march 2002, by then, Governor Scott McCallum. Eight months later, he was elected to the post with 64% of the vote, and served his first four-year term. Today, with 35-plus years experience as a law enforcement professional, Sheriff Clarke is in his third term of office, having been re-elected in 2006 with 73% of the vote, and 74% of the vote in 2010.
It became apparent to all who were present (and those who saw the video of his speech), exactly why the residents of Milwaukee County love him. This proud, Unhyphenated American, rebuked the ridiculous ravings of former Supreme Court Justice, and “Rockefeller Republican”, John Paul Stevens (appointed by President Gerald Ford), who wrote in his recent book that he would change the Second Amendment by adding five words in the middle: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms when serving in the militia shall not be infringed.”
As any Unhyphenated American should, Sheriff Clarke took umbrage with that twisting of the Constitution, and drew a standing ovation from this crowd of patriots when he bold said, ”JUST WHAT PART OF “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” DOES JUSTICE STEVENS NOT UNDERSTAND?”
We salute you, Sheriff Clarke!!
