Obama is exercising that flexibility in Russia
Paying attention to details and nuances could have paid off as a nation if we had taken heed at Obama’s “hot mic” statement to Russian Dimitri Medvedev in March 2012:
“After my election,I will have more flexibility ” – B. Obama
Medvedev was more than happy to pass that information on to Putin. America is reaping what we have sown.
Character matters, words matter, and history matters. Have you ever seen Obama kiss our flag, or say how great our nation is? Soberly stated by The Daily Mail’s Edward Lucas:
“We are soon to face a bleak choice. We can chose to surrender any responsibility we have to protect Ukraine and the Baltic states – almost certainly Putin’s next target – from further Russian incursion. Or we can mount a last-ditch attempt to deter Russia from furthering its imperial ambitions.
It is about whether Putin’s Russia – a rogue state on Europe’s doorstep – can hold its neighbours to ransom, and whether we have the will to resist him. So far the answer to the first question is yes. And to the second a bleak no.”
Did Obama tell us what his intent was all along? If we had only listened.
