EMT delivered baby on Metro
EMT, Autumn Manka, delivered baby on the Metro.
WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — It’s a good thing that EMT Autumn Manka has delivered a baby before because she was in the right place, at the right time on Thursday when a mother went into labor on Metro.
“I stepped off the Metro and I heard somebody screaming, and about 10 minutes later I was holding a baby,” said Autumn Manka on Friday.
A Metro spokesperson said that at 10:30 a.m. Thursday a 23-year-old woman riding on the Green Line train headed toward Greenbelt, Md. went into labor. The spokesperson says that an off-duty EMT, who we now know was Autumn Manka, helped the woman deliver the baby on a platform after the train stopped at L’Enfant Plaza.
