This Label Caused More Harm Than Good

K. Jackson

In an opinion piece on CNN, author Ruben Navarrette shares why the title of, “Mexican-American” caused him confusion.  It may be the norm here, but try to take that into Mexico, and see how that works.

Perhaps we should learn from his story. Placing a title like Mexican-American, Asian-American or African-American on ourselves only causes more separation from each other. If we are truly the melting pot we claim to be,  should we simply be known as Americans?
